If you are wondering what to do with the Christmas tree over the weekend, when it's due to come down, and would like it collected and shredded, all you have to do is leave the tree outside your house (at the end of your drive, if you have one) with a cheque for £2.50, or more if you wish, made out to the Audlem Scout & Guide Hall. Please place the cheque in a poly bag and tie it to the tree. And remember to include your name and a contact phone number if you want to be included in the draw for a bottle of champagne.

Collections will be made tomorrow, Saturday 6th January and on Sunday between 10.00am and 1.00pm. In the unlikely event that you are missed, call 07966 504099. It's a convenient and environmentally sound way to dispose of the tree while helping a good cause.

There is also a free Christmas tree shredding service tomorrow, Saturday from 9.00am until 1.00pm provided by Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council on the car park off Cheshire Street. However, once your tree has shed millions of needles all over your car, it may be better to use the Scout & Guide Hall's service. At least you won't spend hours cleaning your car if you use it to get the tree to the car park!
