Swans on the Canal suffering

AudlemOnline received this rather sad message form Sarah Johansen earlier this week.

I live by the canal in Nantwich. Residents have been finding multiple dead swans around the canal this week, it's very sad to see.

Please can residents and boaters keep a look out for the swans in the Audlem area and let the Canal and River Trust know if anything seems to be up with them. Also please watch out for signs of blue green algae.

Blue Green Algae

Blue green algae (BGA) are naturally occurring organisms but in nutrient rich waters and encouraged by warm weather, BGA can grow excessively and cause water quality problems and potentially health problems in the summer months. We have a recognised internal process for monitoring and managing blue green algae in our reservoirs and waterbodies.
