Suspicious telephone calls

This warning has been received from Cheshire East Council

Members of the public have reported suspicious telephone calls from a person claiming to be working for 'Cheshire Council'.

The cold calls appeared to be from a mobile number – 07584 219254. This number, which does not allow incoming calls, has been reported previously in other areas. Callers from the number have claimed to be from various local authorities. The number has already been reported to the mobile service provider and the communications regulator Ofcom.

A Cheshire East Council spokesperson said: "Calls from this number are not from anyone acting on behalf of the Council."
