Children and staff have had a busy time in the first full week of our new school year and it has been wonderful to have the sun shine on us as we have started our new topics and learning in earnest.
Everyone has continued to work hard, with lots of exciting learning and topics beginning to show in displays and classrooms across school.
Throughout school, each child has been writing their own prayers for their class prayer book and I have been delighted to see the thought and care they have given to this important task.
Thank you to all of the children who have already returned their work as part of our Summer Creative Writing Challenge. Mrs Richardson has been enjoying reading your work and will be creating a display of the work we receive. If you still have work you would like to add to this display, please return it to school by Friday 18th September so it can be included.
We have new Year Six Team Captains for this half term, our Captains are:
Congratulations on your new, important roles in school. I am looking forward to working with you during the year.
The sun shone on FASA's first event of the school year at their Teddy Bear's Picnic to celebrate the start of the new school year yesterday. Thank you to all the volunteers who gave time, cake and energies to this special picnic.
FASA are always keen to hear from individuals, businesses and companies who are willing to donate raffle prizes for their events. Businesses or companies which are not in a position to donate prizes but would be willing to support in other ways, for example, supporting the costs of printing raffle tickets, are also of great benefit to FASA's work.
If you know of anyone who may be able to support FASA in this way please let Miss Cooper in the School Office or Deborah Varley, FASA's Chair, know so they can contact them directly. Many thanks.
ABC staff would like to thank you for your support of their new baby area and for utilising their holiday club over the summer break. ABC Childcare Services are entering their third year here in Audlem and it is wonderful to see their provision grow as it benefits the community so well. We have added a reminder of the after school clubs ABC offer on the clubs overview sent home this week. These clubs are in addition to their regular after school care.
Please contact the ABC team on 01270 748081 or 07786 985110, alternatively email them at abcaudlem@outlook.com
Mrs Hayward will be preparing another culinary treat for children on Tuesday 22nd September. Children will be given a 'Taste of Spain' at our first themed lunch of this year. Fliers outlining menu choices for this themed lunch have been sent out to families this week – please look out for them.
We sent out an overview of class assemblies and dates and times for your information earlier this week. As last year, there will be one class assembly per class across this school year linked to their class work and learning. We hope you can join us for these special sharing sessions.
Please ensure these forms are returned to school no later than Friday 18th September to ensure we have all of the children's contact details and medical information updated on our system. Many thanks.
We would like to politely remind parents not to park on pavements outside school at the beginning and end of the school day. These are very busy times outside school and the safety of pedestrians is paramount. Please also consider our local residents at these times.
A reminder that, in the interests of safety, children bringing scooters or bikes to school are not to ride them within the school grounds. They must be wheeled to and from the bike store and only mounted once outside the school gates.
Our Meet the Teacher Open Evening is on Thursday 17th September. I hope many of you will be able to take this opportunity to find out about your child's learning and classroom for this year. Class teachers and I will be available to answer any questions or queries you may have and I look forward to seeing many of you at this open evening.
R Jewitt
