The business was started in 1862 by Ely Williams – my great, great grandfather, but has generally passed down the female side of the family, hence why it is sometimes known as "Dutton's" or " McKelvey's" – depending on your age !
Though it still trades today as it was started as "Williams Of Audlem", its official business name now sounds rather grandiose in today's supermarket led climate – so it is normally shortened/amended to "Williams", or "Williams Newsagents".
We have aready started to think about ways in which we can mark this mile stone next year, but we are hoping we might get a little help from our customers ?
If anyone has any hisorical William's shop photographs and/or interesting stories regarding the business, that they would like to share with us (and ultimately the rest of the village), please drop these into the shop marked for my attention, any time over the next few months.
Thank you in advance if you can help.
