Report originally received from Rachel Bailey

Latest information from Cheshire East (4pm)

The polling station has now reopened again -- having been given the "all clear" by the fire service.

Original report (2pm)

Apparently there is currently (Thursday, 3pm) a fire behind the Methodist Church in Hankelow.

This is being controlled by the Fire Service, but meanwhile the Church cannot be used as a voting station, as it should be.

So please be prepared to be directed to a temporary facility nearby to vote in today's election.

INFORMATION BULLETIN (3.15pm)

Hankelow polling station – alternative arrangements due to incident

The polling station at Hankelow has temporarily relocated due to a fire in the local area.

Polling station staff have evacuated safely, closed the polling station and have set up temporary polling arrangements from vehicles parked on Hankelow Village Green.

Voters due to vote at the polling station – at 11 Old School Lane, Hankelow CW3 0JN – are asked to look out for polling station staff, who will assist them to vote safely and securely under the temporary arrangements.

The polling station is being used for:

  • Hankelow neighbourhood planning referendum;
  • Police and crime commissioner elections for Hankelow and Buerton parishes.

Polling station staff will take instructions from Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service and will resume duties from the polling station as soon as possible.
