This statement has been issued by a group of Audlem residents which has been formed following the public meetings organised by the parish Council about the proposed car park charges which Cheshire East are threatening to impose.
There are many exasperations that our local drivers must endure in parking locally. Apart from risking life and limb to exit Kingbur Place, which is my own personal challenge, we take our lives into our hands to avoid the heavy traffic who feel it is their right to race through our village roads, forcing us up onto pavements, especially along Cheshire Street! Our road safety issues have become dire, primarily for our children.
Looking for a parking space in our crowded village can be like finding a needle in a haystack, which is why our free Central Car Park has been a blessing to us all, but now we are under threat.
Cheshire East are about to impose car parking charges upon us. They will also paint yellow lines along part of Windmill Way and Tollgate Drive to ensure no-one can park there either! In their wisdom they expect this to force drivers to pay their car park fees, filling their coffers even more.
So, in one fell swoop our village will suffer. Local shops will lose trade as there will be nowhere for customers to park, they will also fail to attract staff as their employees will have to pay daily charges to park, clubs and societies will lose members and eventually close down, ASET will face extortionate charges to hold Party on the Park and other events, so these may cease, the knock on effects are endless, so........
Do you want to spend the rest of your life living in a village with no amenities, or do you want to join with us and challenge Cheshire East?
We are a small group who plan to demonstrate in order to generate publicity for our plight. If you would like to join us, whether you are happy to just stand with us, hold a placard or have contacts who may be useful, please let us know and contact Brian Bugeja at:

Our first planned demonstration will be on Saturday 4th November at 11.00 am. Further details to follow.
