The Exhibition of Steampunk Costume at Audlem Mill has now ended.
Readers may remember the invitation to guess the number of men's neckties sacrificed to make the Blue Caterpillar from Alice in Wonderland.
The guesses ranged from 56 to a whopping 350. At one point there was not a blue tie to be found in any charity shop in the Cheshire/Staffordshire /Shropshire area! Even so the total was less than many thought as I had used the same tie in various areas even utilising the little loops on the back to make a brooch and bows on the evening gloves.
The actual count was 71 and the closest with 84 was Celia Bloor .
Well done Celia and thankyou Peter and Christine Silvester for hosting the exhibition.
Ed – presumably Celia wins the dress for her efforts – can we now look forward to her parading the costume through the streets of Audlem?
