While many may find this morning something of a non-event after last night's celebrations, it's a very special day in the BAGS calendar. The BAGS (Burleydam & Audlem Golf Society) was formed in 1983 with members from the surrounding district of Audlem. The highlight of the year is always the New Year's Day meeting when golfers play for the Hangover Trophy which was donated by the late Bob Monk.

This particular meeting has proved to be very popular with many golfers from the area taking part. The present organisers are John Cooke and Harry Knapper.

The Rules used for the Hangover Trophy are the Four Ball Florida Scramble – this is an unusual format and we won't go into the details at present but all will be explained to the competitors!

The winning team will be presented with the Hangover Trophy and a small personal prize. The 2nd and 3rd teams will also receive prizes, as also will nearest the pin on the 12th and 16th holes. It's all been taking place at Brookfield Golf Course and competitors and their supporters will enjoy a hotpot lunch.
