Ed – we received this interesting item from Dave Martin

I recently came across this photo published in a magazine around 20 years ago.

audlem wharf 1968

With "The Fly" now being revitalised by Lucy & Simon, your readers might be interested in seeing the building in a somewhat tatty state. Not the picture postcard scene it is now, though there appears to be no crane, as now!

The photo was taken by the great waterways photographer Harry Arnold, who died last year, so I guess the photo should be attributed to Waterways Images Ltd. He was a great friend of John Stothert who initiated the Audlem Mill Canal Shop.

From the car registrations the photo must have been taken some time after 1966. Ford Zodiac (or is it Zephyr), Austin Cambridge and Ford Corsair are visible, plus a small car I'm not sure of. Maybe an Austin A30?

For comparison, we have included a recent photo from much the same angle.
