Short-ARS on Saturday

This will be the Brooks Mill walk, featured in the Local walks section of AudlemOnline Tourism section.

The walk is about 5 miles long with almost no ascents or descents of any note. The walking surface is easy – no ploughed fields or muddy bits (unless we get a shedload of rain before Saturday). The paths are all properly marked, although sometimes not obvious on the ground.

The walk starts in the village (9.30am in the car park) and returns to the village in time for lunch and/or the Beer Festival.

BUT

There are quite a lot of stiles, few of them with sensible gate alternatives.

Some of the stiles are rather overgrown – I would not advise wearing shorts.

Many of the fields are quite large and a good proportion have herds of cows – dogs will have to be under close control much of the time.

A great walk

Having said all of which, it is a great local walk and very much the kind of thing that ARS should do locally to keep the paths open and usable.

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped
