The short ARS walk for October will take place on Saturday October 23rd meeting at 9.30 am on the main Car Park.

The walk is a circular one around Wybunbury – the distance is just over 5 miles (the last halfmile lap of the Moss is optional) mostly along good paths and farm tracks with a few stiles but very little up and down. The Moss can be muddy in places.

We will drive to Wybunbury where the Swan Inn has kindly allowed us to park in the gravel car park area between the pub and the Church Tower.

We will walk across the fields and Wybunbury Brook, past Brook House and onto the A51. Just a few yards along the main road we turn off again across fields and meadows, past Oat Eddish Farm, where we turn left and follow a farm drive to Hunsterson Road just past Dagfields. Then down the quiet Hunsterton Road and across a field to Birdenhill Wood (could be a good stopping point for coffee). Then past the wood and another farm lane back to the A51.

We have to do about 300 yards carefully along this main road, but there is a grass verge. Then we turn off past some old workings and onto a lovely lane that passes a hidden lake (Jubilee Pool) to meet Wrinehill Road, which we follow back to Wybunbury.

Just as we get to Wybunbury, and the pub is just about in sight, we turn off again to do a lap round Wybunbury Moss before climbing up to Wybunbury Churchyard and back to the Swan Inn....

....which served us a very nice pint of Hartleys Cumbria Way when we did the "reccy" walk.

This walk will be led by John Tilling and Bob Cartwright.
