With the season rapidly coming to a close Audlem's three teams found themselves short of a few regular players over the weekend due to other commitments but still managed to put out three competitive elevens.

First Team

The first team made the short trip to Audley where they were well beaten by six wickets in a low scoring encounter. Audlem closed their innings on 93 for 9 off the allocated 40 overs with Charles Birkin top scoring on 24, but the undoubted highlight of the game was the innings of young Harry Measures who scored an unbeaten 15 on his debut for the firsts in a gutsy display of resistance against a strong bowling attack. Audlem's bowlers put up a spirited display in the reply with Simon Swift leading the way claiming 4 for 13 off his nine overs but eventually the hosts reached the required total in the 28th over.

Second Eleven

The second eleven's league campaign finished the previous Saturday, but a fixture had been arranged with a touring team from Hertfordshire back in January. The club was from Little Mundon near Ware and were due to play Hawarden CC the following day with the connection that both of the club grounds are sited on land with strong ties to the Gladstone family.

The game was a high scoring affair in a 35 over contest  with Little Mundon posting an impressive 237 for 6 off their allocation. Veteran bowler Steve Neale was the top performer on the day, claiming 2 for 22 off his 5 overs with Conor Howard also taking a brace. Audlem put up a good show with the bat with Sam Patterson the top performer on 57 not out and good contributions coming from Steve Ellsmore (17), Ryan Anderton (15) & Hamish Howard with 21 as the innings closed on a creditable 186 for 9.

Sunday Eleven

The following day, Audlem made the short journey to Wistaston for another 35 over contest. An excellent game with the hosts just coming out on top in a tight low scoring contestt by 3 wickets. Audlem's star performers were, Bertie Hardy scoring 21 with the bat and 1 for 29 with the ball , Justin Reynolds scoring 20 with the bat and 2 for 15 with the ball. Dave Parkinson scoring 17 with the bat and Harry Measures claiming 2 victims for 15 with the ball . Audlem 113 all out (35 overs). Wistaston 115 for 7 (34 overs).

Next week Audlem first eleven are down to play Bagnall (12.30pm) and the following day the Sunday team host Norton-in-Hales (1.00pm) to complete the season's fixtures
