Ed – Do not confuse Marbury Country Park, near Northwich, with the village of Marbury near Wrenbury.
Andy Davidson is leading next Saturday's walk from Marbury Country Park near Northwich.
The walk commences at the car park at Marbury Country Park (CW9 6AT) where there are public conveniences. The car park is pay and display. We initially walk alongside Budworth Mere before crossing the Trent and Mersey Canal and continuing through parkland.
Eventually we descend to the River Weaver and then arrive at the Anderton Boatlift, which we will hopefully see operating. As I recall ice cream is available here if this warm weather continues. We then return along the Trent and Mersey canal and eventually cut back through Marbury Country Park to the car park.
The walk is around 5 miles, generally flat, and I don't recall there being many stiles.
NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
Non-members of ARS are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
