Saturday 28th September

Chris Elliott is leading Saturday's local walk from Audlem around Hankelow, and writes:-

The walk is a very pleasant, gentle local walk with a variety of pleasant Cheshire views. We will be starting at 9.30 from Audlem car park. It's a 2 slipper walk.

Walking through the village we go along Mill Lane and the path that leads us onto Monks Lane. Down to The Parks, we take the path to Nantwich Road which we cross to the lane past Hankelow Mill and onto the canal tow path. We then walk north up to Coole Pilate Lane which leads us onto the South Cheshire Way. We then head East across the fields towards Hankelow Hall.

Once at the White Lion we can decide to either walk up Longhill Lane and down Monks Lane or go along Nantwich Road and back onto the footpath past The Parks and back into Audlem.

The walk is 5.5 miles with no discernable height gain. There weren't any cows out when we reccied on Saturday – but this could change. There are 7 stiles and two short sections that could be a bit muddy depending on how much rain we get this week.

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.

Non-members of ARS are welcome to come on a walk but are expected to join ARS and pay the membership fee after a trial walk or two.
