Helen Meyrick is leading this Saturday's Short-ARS (Audlem Ramblers Society) walk to Grinshill Hill, which she describes as follows:-

"Starting from Country Garden Roses in Hadnall, we'll take a track down to the road and head towards Yorton. Once we pass under the railway bridge we'll leave the road and walk through fields towards Grinshill. We'll pass the church in the village and head up the hill. We'll stop for coffee at the top, where the views are superb.

From there, we'll head back down the hill and through woodland and meet the road to head back towards the garden centre. I believe there is a tea room so please feel free to refresh yourselves here before heading back to Audlem.

The post code for the garden centre is SY4 3DH...watch out for a couple of large potholes just before the entrance! The walk is around 5 miles and is mostly road walking with some woodland and fields. The walk is suitable for dogs as there are no stiles but obviously due to most of the route being on (quiet) roads then they'll probably need to kept on a lead. During the reccie there were also some livestock in one of the fields.

I'd give it a 3 carpet slipper rating because of the short, sharp ascent and descent of Grinshill. The rest will be a doddle."

Helen will meet you at the start of the route, and Steve Elliott will meet walkers in Audlem Car Park on Saturday leaving at 9.30am

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.
Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
