The short ARS walk next Saturday (24th June) will be led by Jean Stainthorpe, starting from The Boat Inn at Erbistock

A delightful 4½ mile walk with 450 feet of ascent along the banks of the River Dee, across farmland, some fields containing livestock, through woods, with some road walking. Some ups and downs and a couple of stiles, also some mud when we did the recce. Dogs will of course need to be on leads at times.

We can park in the overflow car park at The Boat Inn (though a helicopter arrived and parked there whilst we were doing the recce, see pic. Much to our disappointment no celebs emerged, only two flight crew). The Boat Inn will be open on our return for drinks or lunch.

Directions to The Boat Inn

Location – Erbistock LL13 0DL (24 miles, 35 mins)

From Whitchurch, take the A525 for Wrexham, then the A539 for Overton which joins the A528 at Overton. When you cross the bridge over the River Dee, with the Cross Foxes on your left, take the sharp left immediately behind the pub, signed to The Boat and follow the signs through the lanes to the pub.

Meet Audlem Car Park at 9.30 am

NB All walkers must have suitable footwear and be prepared for adverse weather, carry food and water to last for the entire walk and be suitably fit for the various lengths of walk.

Each walk is led by a nominated leader who will carry some first-aid equipment. The leader has the right to refuse to include in a group anyone who is felt not be adequately equipped.
