Search for new Post Office for Audlem

There is an advertisement on a website named abcomm.co.uk that has an official-looking Post Office logo, which claims to be offering a franchise to run a Post Office branch in Audlem.

The implication appears to be that anybody can apply to set up a Post Office outlet in an existing shop or retail business, although the website does detail a lengthy process of vetting and training before such a franchise would be acceptable.

The description of the application process suggests that it can take between seven months and a year from the time of application to opening the doors of a new Post Office facility.

So the message appears to be that a potential opportunity is there if somebody wants to give it a go, but with the best will in the world it's going to be some time before the village has a new Post Office through this process.

It also completely begs the question as to what, if anything, is to happen about the sorting office.
