The Kestrels Patrol from Audlem Scouts have written this weeks report. They were tasked with writing a report about Scout activities. They have decided to present it like a calendar of events, based on when in the year we have taken part in these activities in the past.

Scouts take part in many different events and activities throughout the year as well as working towards badges and other activities during troop nights. Here's what the Kestrel Patrol had to say;

These are some of the things we do at Scouts:

January

Christmas Tree collecting to raise money for the Scout & Guide Hall

February

Cooking, movie making and report writing for Audlem Online

March

Cheshire Hike training

April

Cheshire hike – I have enjoyed the Cheshire hike. We had to do loads of training hikes that helped me to get more weight on my back. It was so funny when at breakfast after one day of hiking I over filled Matthews porridge pot and he dropped it all over the floor.

May

District camp (which is every two years) and Scouts Fishing Competition

I personally would love to do a fishing event as it would help me: understand the biology of fish, learn how to use a rod and have a good competition about who could catch the largest fish. I would also like to do it to meet new people in the local community as local fishermen help us catch fish in the near by canal.

June

Canoeing and Kayaking – In the summer we did canoeing and kayaking. It was very fun and everyone got wet and had a good time

July

Outdoor cooking- Climbing wall at the Festival of Transport

In our last scout session before the summer holidays, we made a meal using outdoor fire. The food was actually really nice.
I would like to do the climbing wall at the transport festival because it sounds really fun and you could see all the cars from really high up.

August

Summer camp- film camp was good, as there were lots of exciting activities.

September

Sailing course – I would like to do sailing. This is because it is something I haven't done yet. It sounds interesting and fun. I don't know what it would be like, but I do know that there are many different types of sailing and I would like to try all of them.

October

Survival camp & Halloween Disco – In October, I did a sailing course at Winsford Flashes. It was a 5 day course. I enjoyed it because it gave you quite a lot of freedom and I could use the skills I learnt in the future. Even though I fell out of my boat a time or two, this helped me because I learnt how to how to get back into the boat properly.

At the Halloween party you were allowed to come in non-uniform and youcould also bring a friend if you wanted to. We played all sorts of games. One was that you had to eat a doughnut on a string without using your hands. Another was to get something that was in a box you couldn't see inside -- inside was cold spaghetti and you needed to find the sweets! One of our leaders was a DJ and they played good music all evening. It was epic!

November

Chutney Making, abseiling and Letter drop
We walked all around Audlem posting leaflets about Audlem and what was happening (The Audlem Newsletter)
I would like to do abseiling next time the opportunity comes up because I quite like heights and it sounds like a lot of fun. Another reason that I would like to do it is that I used to be afraid of heights, and I want to completely get over this fear. Abseiling sounds exciting so I hope I can do it.

December

Film night and Rocket launching

I loved the rocket launching. The rockets themselves were hand made by scouts from cardboard for the wings, cola bottles for the body and tape to stick it all together. To launch the rockets we filled them 3 quarters of the way up with water and then pumped in air which created pressure causing the bottles to rise upwards.

I liked film night. This is because it was very fun. We basically watched a film and ate lots of sweets and chocolate. I liked it because
films are awesome and so are sweets and chocolate. We also did the mannequin challenge in the middle of the film, which was good.
