Audlem Parish Council are pleased to see that Audlem Scouts have been making great use of the grant funding given for camping equipment. The group were awarded £671.97 to purchase three much needed tents to use during a very wet and windy camp in September.

Monopoly Live

The first big event these were used for was when 16 scouts recently attended the South West Cheshire Monopoly Live weekend held at Queens Park Crewe. This event run by South West Cheshire Scouts in conjunction with Crewe Lions, takes place every two years and alternates between Crewe and Nantwich centres – this year the event took place around Crewe.

The event started on a Friday, where Scouts arrive after school and set up camp. On Saturday in teams of 4 Scouts, using a monopoly board, Scouts raced around landmarks in Crewe gaining Monopoly money in the process. Scouts were vigilant as the local police, who fully support the activity, willingly put them in jail. During the evening of Saturday, Scouts built rafts, which they raced on Sunday morning on Queens Park lake. Saturday evening finished off with a very noisy and boisterous disco and Sunday morning was taken up with a very lively and wet raft race.

This year Audlem Scouts entered 4 of the 36 teams who took part. Audlem Scouts entered 2 boys and 2 girls' teams, the girl's teams being more successful than the boy's teams, coming 1st and 4th, and winning the Scout Trophy.

The Scouts are pleased with the new equipment which can now be used for all sections and be available for Girl Guides and Brownies camp if required.
