Mr Parry writes

"It is lovely to see all the children back at school this week with beaming smiles as they entered the school. Icould feel the beating heart of the school is now back as the children flooded the classrooms after 6 weeksaway.

"Our school is made of hearts not bricks and I know all teachers have been working hard to ensure the lessonsare inspiring so that young minds can soak up all the amazing facts and the classrooms are showing how wewant to inspire the children to be able to achieve anything. I know that all teachers, governors and myself areso proud to have you all back and can't wait to help the children flourish again throughout the next academicyear.

"I would also like to welcome all the new reception children and parents to Audlem St James and being part ofour school community"

Roman numbers

We see from the newsletter that Ruby class are learning how to read and add up Roman numerals. Can you add LXVII to XIX? It may not be of real practical use in today's world, but it's a first class mental exercise. Incidentally there are historians who believe that the final limiting factor of the Roman Empire was their ridiculous numbers and specifically the absence of a zero in their system.
