Saturday afternoon music at the Shroppie

Saturday December 14th from 2-5pm

After all the recent upheavals at The Shroppie Fly, the regular Saturday afternoon acoustic music session returns this Saturday (14th) from 2-5pm. As usual, all types of acoustic music are welcome, so come down and give us a song or tune. It sure beats Christmas shopping! No doubt there will be renditions of Christmas carols, familiar and not to familiar.

The pub has had a minor but very tasteful makeover: it feels as homely as ever, and the beer quality is excellent, as befits a CAMRA-listed pub. And the accursed parking cameras have gone. But of course you'll have to pay to use the public car park: you just can't win!

You may be aware that one of the regulars from the very early days of the Monday night sessions, Derek Pearson, has recently died. The photo shows him at a session (in the Fly) in 2015. His Christmas party-piece was to sing "While Shepherds Watched..." to the tune of "On Ilkley Moor baht 'at". No doubt it will appear on Saturday.
