Santa and his team of elves braved the winter weather and storm Darragh last weekend to make sure that the traditional procession of the sleigh through the village and surrounding area took place.
The sleigh, kindly leant by the Crewe and Nantwich Round Table as usual, managed to stay upright in the violent winds although Ruby, one of the elves, did not but she recovered and bravely soldiered on.
The sleigh itself carrying Santa (Russell Black) was expertly towed along by Phil Brereton on his tractor, while the team of indomitable elves was organised and encouraged by Geoff Stretch.
On Saturday evening, during the worst of the storm, the sleigh toured Audlem village, not returning to base, cold and battered but triumphant, until 9pm.
On Sunday, it started round Hankelow and then to Buerton where it was enthusiatically met by a crowd on the playing field, who plied the elves with a welcome hot chocolate.
All in all, a very successful defeat was inflicted on the unfriendly weather, and well over £2000 was raised, all of which will go to local good causes.
