Report for Saturday's Towpath Task-Force at Audlem.

It was a fantastic turnout with 4 regular and 1 visiting volunteer(s) joining, – working alongside the current acting Team Leader from the CRT Norbury team. It also included members of the local adoption group from the village (ADAPT).

Thus a huge amount of diverse environmental, safety and visual improvement work was completed. Please see the attached photographs of the work.

The boundary hedge between the wharf area, services and land traditionally known as the orchard was cut back sympathetically, removing branches and foliage that was causing an obstruction to the services bin compound access, signage and was soon to damage overhead services. The cutting back of the foliage also protected the foliage, – the hedge had grown nearly 2m since January 2013 and was bowing outwards due to the weight of the outreaching branches, which would have led to its eventual failure.

As part of the work also, the services ramp was de-weeded and the garden between the Shroppie Fly and the services was tidied, wild flower seeds planted in the flower bed and the bushes trimmed.

The bushes adjacent to the by-wash wash-wall of lock 13 were also trimmed. The volunteers had also funded wild flower seeds and these were sown on the off-side bank adjacent to lock 13.

As you know we as a team are passionate about returning Audlem to its former glory as a beautiful location, these wild flowers will also attract wildlife. ADAPT volunteer(s) trimmed and saved foliage on the embankment between the access road and the towpath, also thinned and tidied vegetation in the flower bed adjacent to the crane wharf.

The work completed at Audlem on the 13th of February: ' Planted/Sown wild flower seeds (30 packets covering 150m2) adjacent to lock 13, including cutting back external vegetation. Serviced flower bad adjacent to the services' Serviced flower bed adjacent to the crane wharf. Trimmed hedge adjacent to the orchard Best wishes and kind regards,
