Repairs to St James Church

Commencing on Monday 24th June for approximately 3 weeks, St James Church will be starting its repairs with masonry renewal mainly to the church tower. This will involve steeplejacks on the outside of the tower so please do not be alarmed if you see it happening. I am sure some villagers will see it as an opportunity for some new photos of the church!

The normal church activities will be unaffected during this time but access may be only via the south porch entrance at certain times.

We have been fundraising for 18 months now and, with gift aid included, thanks to local generosity we have raised just over £30,000. To give AOL readers an idea however, this work alone will cost over 2/3rds of the funds raised so far -- Grade 1 listing protects our church but also adds considerably to the costs of repair due to the specialist nature of the work and materials involved.
