Remembrance Sunday November 8th

The Covid 19 restrictions, announced by the Prime Minister, come into force on Thursday 5th November. Under these restrictions our Parish Church of St James the Great will be closed for public worship or gathering for the foreseeable future. This means that the Service and Act of Remembrance, planned for November 8th, cannot now take place and we recognise that this will be a disappointment for those who would have taken part.

As many will know, with the expertise of Then Media, we had arranged to stream the Service and Act of Remembrance on AudlemOnline to enable as many as possible in our community to engage with the celebration. This will still go ahead from 10.45am on Sunday 8th November, since much of the Service has been pre-recorded. Please use the link below if you would like to follow the Service and Act of Remembrance.

Of course, the Act of Remembrance would normally be followed by the laying of wreaths at the War Memorial by representatives of our various village organisations. This can still take place but we would ask that this is done after 11.00am and bearing in mind that those involved must observe social distancing. It would also be helpful if we can create a one way system in the churchyard, entering via the Main Gate on Stafford Street and leaving via the path and small gate onto Cheshire Street. As before anyone from our community, who would like to pay their personal respects are welcome to do so, preferably after 11.30am, and again being aware of social distancing and using the one way system outlined above.
We hope that everyone recognises that the restrictions imposed to deter the spread of the virus are paramount for all of us.
