Audlem Ward Councillor Rachel Bailey will become Deputy Mayor of Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council for next year – 2008/9.

Rachel has represented Audlem since 1998 when she took over from the late Peggy Furber, who herself was a former Mayor of the Borough. She is currently the Board member with responsibility for Planning. Rachel is a local person who describes herself as a 'farmer's wife from Lightwood Green'.

This will be the last year of the Crewe and Nantwich Borough Council before it becomes part of the new East Cheshire Unitary Authority, the elections for which take place in May 2008
