The Editors of AudlemOnline have received over the last two days a series of abusive messages addressed to the chatbox, many of them from obviously spurious names and/or e-mail addresses.

The common theme (when it can be extracted from a mixture of foul language and bad grammar) appears to be that by publishing an article about the Tuesday quiz nights (see here ), we are somehow wanting the new management of the Lord Combermere to fail.

Let us be clear that nothing could be further from the truth.

Part of our overall purpose is to support village businesses and organisations, old and new, and we have no hesitation in wishing the new Lord Combermere management every success in restoring the LordC, with or without a quiz night, to its important position in village activity.

Hopefully to assist with this, we publish below an item (very slightly edited) entered onto the AudlemOnline Facebook page.

From the Lord Combermere

"Hi, we apologised to you in person yesterday for any confusion this has caused. It was never our intention to offend you Dave, and we wish you every success in your ventures!

"The Lord Combermere is about being part of a community and as one of the new owners I can't stress enough how sad this has made us.

"We shall move on. For clarity; It will be a new quiz master on a new night. It has nothing to do with any previous incarnation or quizmaster.

"If anyone has any questions, please feel free to direct them to me at the pub and I'll be happy to speak to you in person over a cup of tea."
