We understand that great efforts are being made to get a new Audlem Youth Club (AYC) off the ground.
Discussions are underway over a temporary home for the Club and, as regular readers will be aware, bids are underway for Lottery funding to eventually build an annexe to the Public Hall for a longer term home.
It is hoped meetings in the temporary accommodation will start in the first quarter of 2015 on Friday evenings.
A management committee will be set up and Kate Parkes and Monique Hollinshead have already said they are willing to part of that. Other volunteers will be needed so look out for future announcements.
The Youth Federation have already offered support in:
Recruitment of volunteers and Audlem Youth Club members will only start if there is positive news on the first stage of the Lottery bid. If there is good news, steps to get the club off the ground will start.
It is likely that a 'without obligation' volunteer evening will be held in early February but, clearly, much depends on how the Lottery bid is progressing. It is hoped volunteers would be able to get involved one Friday a month if a reasonably sized group can be recruited. Research has shown Friday evening is the preferred evening for potential members.
The club has been advised that Year 7 and upwards is the most appropriate lower age limit. A possible evening might cover 11 – 13 years old from 7 – 8.30pm and 14 – 19 years old from 8.30 – 10pm.
Look out for more news as the idea is developed. In the meantime, Kate and Monique appear to be making great progress.
Roland Hall reports: APHAx are awaiting the result of our Stage One funding application and remain optimistic of the outcome.
The resurrecting of the Youth Club is something that dates back to the 2005 and 2010 Parish Plans but despite setbacks, Kate and Monique have pressed on and with the help of the Youth Federation and Cheshire East we now have the prospect of an embryo youth club being established in early 2015.
The facilities we will be able to provide if the Public Hall Annexe succeeds would make Audlem a benchmark for youth clubs and a model for others. This latest news will strengthen our already good Lottery Application which if successful will provide much needed facilities for people of all ages.
Nantwich Architects Bower Edleston have been appointed to finalise the Annexe design and take it through the Planning Consent stage.
