We are all dressed to impress today as we fund raise for Children in Need! Our School Parliament planned our themed day and we have all arrived at school dressed in spots! The Parliament members and Mr Perry have also been busy running a cake sale this morning and their hard work organising and arranging today is all worthwhile, as they have raised lots of money for this charity and Purple4Polio. Thank you for your contributions and support.
This week had been 'Our World Week' with the theme Power for Good taken from National Anti Bullying Week. The week began with a special launch assembly led by Mr Perry and Mrs Stoker and our Anti Bullying Ambassadors who introduced themselves to the rest of the school through a PowerPoint, which they designed themselves.
They talked about their role and how they aim to empower everyone to tackle all types of bullying. Well done to Lizzie Edwards, Oscar Javens, Joe Jones, Lola Waldron Draba, Ruby Milburn, Ellis Haycock and Skye Howell for sharing your ideas with us all and for reminding us all of the importance of using our power for good. The children have asked children across school to design anti-bullying posters for use across school. Look out for a display of this work in school soon.
PCSO Nick visited us for his half termly lunchtime drop in session on Wednesday, giving the children an opportunity to ask him questions and talk to him. He also worked with each class delivering sessions on a range of themes such as Road Safety, Stranger Danger and Internet Safety.
PCSO Nick also joined Mr Davies and the eSafety Champions to deliver an information session to parents and carers on Wednesday afternoon. The eSafety Champions, Lily Grange, Jem Sheppard, Charlie Chibnall and Benji Cole, did a wonderful job sharing some of the key messages from their recent training and Mr Davies shared important information and guidance about keeping children safe online. Copies of the information shared will be made available on our school website soon under a new 'E Safety' tab; please look out for it.
Key Stage 1 children enjoyed a visit to Nantwich on Monday as part of their topic on Fire. The children became Tudor History Detectives and went on a tour of the town. They were able to follow the course of the Fire of Nantwich and considered why the fire broke out. They had the opportunity to handle and investigate a selection of replica Tudor artefacts, they tried on costumes and found out about an old fire engine. The children studied Tudor buildings and made a Tudor House with a partner. What a wonderful way to bring their topic to life!
Ruby class were visited by Mrs Morgan from the Audlem Historical Society on Monday as part of their work on World War 1. The children enjoyed looking at the old newspaper evidence and War Horse story information she shared with them and learnt a lot from the talk. This is what one of the children had to say:
'Our visit from Mrs Morgan was very interesting and I think it helped me a lot.' – Emma
Diamond class treated us to a wonderful class assembly on Tuesday. It was based on their topic, World War 2 and they shared some wonderful art, poetry and descriptive writing which showed just how much they have learned about this topic so far. They also shared a special song they had learnt by Vera Lynn. Thanks to Mrs Bird and the children for sharing such an interesting and enjoyable assembly.
We welcomed Sapphire class parents and carers to shared lunch on Tuesday. As always, this was a wonderful way to share some of our routines in school with visitors from home and the children were thrilled to share their lunchtime with people from home! Thank you to the Kitchen Team and the Mid Day Assistants for looking after everyone so well.
Several of our Governors visited Diamond class on Wednesday afternoon to see how children have met the Dragon challenge they set earlier this term. The children evaluated their work so far to help them plan for their next steps in this project and shared their work with the 'Dragons'.
Our Key Stage 2 children have been filling school with Christmas cheer as they rehearse for the Big Switch On next week. We have been impressed with how well the children have been learning the words and the energy they have been putting into their rehearsals!
We said farewell to Mrs Hayward, our school cook, yesterday as she leaves us to take up her new promoted role at Cheshire East Catering. In last week's newsletter, I promised an update on our Football Team's match in the quarterfinals of the South Cheshire shield. The team played in a thrilling match against Shavington Primary School which was 2-2 at full time. Despite being beaten 4-2 in extra time, the team did a wonderful job and Mr Perry was very proud of them all.
Well done to Connor, Edward and Jonathan in Year 6 who represented school at South Cheshire College Primary Games event on Wednesday. They came back to school full of enthusiasm for all the sports they had tried, here is what they had to say:
'It was my first time at South Cheshire Sports and I had an awesome day!' – Jonathan
'The coach said I should join the hockey team. I didn't realise I was so good at hockey!' – Edward
'My javelin went the furthest and I was really good at throwing the bean bags too!' – Connor
Our sporting skills have also been on display as Year 5 and 6 children represented our school at a Dodgeball tournament held at Shavington High school yesterday. Mrs Stoker was proud of them all; they tried really hard and won lots of their games – well done!
As part of our continued focus on sports and active lifestyles in school, we are inviting parents and carers to join us for another Active Audlem session next Tuesday at 8.30am before school. Your child will have brought a flier home about this this week, please look out for it for more information. I hope many of you will be able to join us.

Parent Forum – Reminder
Don't forget our next Parent Forum meeting next Wednesday (23rd November) from 9.00am – 10.00am (refreshments available from 8.45am). If you have comments on agenda items but are unable to attend, please send your comments on the reply slip attached to the agenda, which was sent out to all families this week, so that your views can be shared at the meeting. I look forward to meeting with parents and carers then.
Finally
I would like to remind all parents and carers that it is our policy to ask that all children are absent from school for 48 hours from their last episode of diarrhoea or vomiting. This is vital in order to prevent other children and staff from becoming ill.
Many of you will be aware that one of our parents is due to begin intensive treatment very soon which will significantly compromise her immune system and defence against illnesses, it is therefore even more important to be considerate when making decisions as to when to send your child into school after recovering from illness.
I am sure you join me in wishing to support this family as much as possible at this most difficult time and thank you for your understanding, support and cooperation in this matter.
R Jewitt
