It's now just seven weeks to Audlem Methodist Church's major summer project.

'£5k 1day' aims to raise £5,000 in just one day for Macmillan Cancer Support. A variety of events and occasions has been arranged, each with a view to making money. Between the evening of Friday 3 July and the evening of Saturday 4 July, it is hoped to get as near as possible to the target. Then, on Sunday 5 July, at the morning service, a cheque will be presented to a representative of Macmillan.

On the Friday evening, dinner parties, suppers and barbecues will be held in local homes, with guests invited to donate to '£5k 1day'. On Saturday morning, coffee mornings will be arranged in similar fashion, with friends and neighbours invited to donate to '£5k 1day'. At 9.30 am on the Saturday morning, a number of runners and walkers will leave AMC on 5k and 10k sponsored walks and a 10k sponsored run. All sponsor money will go to '£5k 1day'. On Saturday afternoon at 2.30 pm, there will be a matinee performance of 'Sing-a-long the Shows'. The AMC production team will present a selection of songs from the shows to listen to and sing-a-long to. In the evening, at 7.30 pm, there will be a second performance of 'Sing-a-long the Shows', including an Auction of Promises. All money from ticket sales and the auction will go to '£5k 1day'. Throughout the Saturday, AMC will be open to receive donations.

If you would like to help Audlem Methodist Church raise this money, you can! There are a number of ways you can help.

You could hold a dinner party or coffee morning and invite your friends. (If you wish to do this, contact Julia Parton on bmp49@btinternet.com">bmp49@btinternet.com.)

You could join in the walk or run and get yourself sponsored. (If you wish to do this, contact either Andrew Plows on aplows@tiscali.co.uk">aplows@tiscali.co.uk or Rachael Crowther on rachaelcrowther@yahoo.co.uk">rachaelcrowther@yahoo.co.uk.)

You could buy a ticket for 'Sing-a-long the Shows'. (These can be reserved at bookings@audlemmethodistchurch.org.uk">bookings@audlemmethodistchurch.org.uk.)

You could offer an item for the Auction of Promises (promises, not objects). (To do this, contact Brenda Heathcock on brenda@heathcock.plus.com">brenda@heathcock.plus.com.)

Alternatively, you could simply make a donation. These will be received at AMC anytime between 10.00 am and 10.00 pm on Saturday 4 July.

Audlem Methodist Church wanted a summer project that would involve members of its congregation of whatever age. It wanted a project that would be entertaining and fun. It wanted a project that would raise a significant sum for a good cause that wasn't itself. Hopefully '£5k 1day' fits the bill.
