Post-storm roads update

Cheshire East Council received more than 70 reports of fallen trees or branches across the Borough, some of which were located on the principal road network.

Teams worked hard throughout yesterday afternoon in poor conditions to try and ensure as many routes as possible were open for the evening commute.

As night fell, our efforts were focused on the principal road network and those of a more urgent nature. Minor roads were closed and work has recommenced this morning to re-open them.

It is likely that the cleanup operation will continue over the weekend.

The situation was further compounded by falling temperatures last night which meant crews were also out salting the borough's network in the early morning hours.
