Post still appalling

We know how to live in Audlem. Not for us the trendy ski slopes of Switzerland, but trundling our narrowboat north to Runcorn in the middle of February, with a romantic St Valentine's Day in Middlewich on the way back.

Whilst enjoying the fleshpots of Barnton (we felt the diversions to be found in Northwich to be a little too much for our fragile constitutions), we sent a couple of postcards to friends in Audlem, just to make them envious of our exciting travels.

The cards were duly despatched on 12th February, admittedly by 2nd-class post as we're tightwads, and also as past experience says the colour of the stamp makes little difference to the speed/likelihood of delivery.

You've guessed it: they duly arrived on 3rd March.

So it took 19 days to cover the 26 miles (somewhat more via Warrington, no doubt), with no bad weather or Christmas rush to blame. A card from Switzerland would probably have been quicker.

Audlem Online says: Yesterday we published excerpts from the latest 'apology' from Royal Mail. We asked if we should now make the complaint about the local service more formal.

So far, the responses on the Chatbox indicate that formal complaint should be made. What do you think?
