At a meeting held on Tuesday 4th October Richard Hall, Public Affairs Manager at The Post Office was left in no doubt of the depth of frustration of the Parish Council and the community at the ongoing 'temporary' closure of our Post Office.

Despite excuses about the legal difficulties in obtaining use of the 'old' Post Office premises for even a temporary service, there appears to have been no co-ordinated attempt to be creative in finding an alternative solution.

One person had applied to take on the service but the premises they identified were now apparently unavailable. No local retailer has expressed an interest in taking on the role and consequently we are no further forward than we were 6 months ago.

Councillors demanded that somebody be identified as a Coordinator to work with the various Post Office departments to resolve this issue and Mr Hall will take on this role alongside one of their Field Managers.

Various potential alternatives were discussed with Mr. Hall who has committed to investigate each of them. Details of the meeting will be provided to our MP and the Leader of Cheshire East Council, to ask for their help in keeping pressure on senior members of the Post Office to get some form of service back into Audlem in the near future.

The Parish Council will continue the dialogue and also hopes to meet with Royal Mail over the future of the Sorting Office once the Party Political conferences are concluded.

We hope to have a letter from Mr Hall confirming their planned activities by the end of this week, which will be published on AOL.
