A meeting was held on Monday night between the police and a cross section of Audlem residents. There had been concerns that the number of local people attending the Community Action Meetings had declined, although it was accepted that the last meeting in June had clashed with an important World Cup football match.

Ideas to rejuvenate the meetings were considered, primarily based on the meetings being seen as 'Community' meetings rather than just 'Police' meetings. This would involve discussing a wider range of issues. Other ideas included having guest speakers on a range of issues so that the format would be different at each meeting. It was thought important that the meetings mustn't be seen as routine but have something new each time.

The next meeting is being planned for mid November and will publicised on Audlem Online and by door to door leaflet. The Community Action Meetings are designed for residents to say what their priorities are to make Audlem a safer, better community but do need the involvement of as many residents as possible across a wide age range.

At Monday's meeting, the police hinted at some of the findings from the recent Police Perception survey. These indicated that a significant proportion of respondents in Audlem have concerns about crime and other community issues. The Community Action Meetings are the ideal opportunity to discuss how these concerns should be tackled.
