A local resident from Mill Lane (the one near Salford, not the Mill Lane to the west of the village) has written to Audlem Online to say: "Just wanting to let off steam on behalf of the residents of Mill Lane in the hope that someone can offer some help or support for our plight. Last week our black bins were not collected from Mill Lane because the council refuse collection lorry couldn't access the lane due to parked cars at the entrance. They apparently made two attempts that day, but both times were unable to access the lane."

"This has happened on a number of previous occasions for the same reason.

Crewe & Nantwich Borough Council say they cannot help us and that the bins will be collected at some time but they don't know when. In the meantime this is presenting a health hazzard, bins have blown open in the recent gales, refuse is spreading around the lane and local wildlife and neighbours pets are feasting on the contents."

Our recycling bin should be collected this week, meaning 10 bins will be positioned – 5 black and 5 grey – at the half way point in the lane where the council collect from – whether they will be able to gain access for this is unknown as yet."

"However, another aspect of this is the chance that in the event of any residents requiring urgent attention from emergency services, e.g. ambulance or fire brigade, the regular obstructions from parked vehicles at the entrance to the lane could seriously hamper this with potentially devastating results."

"I and other neighbours have called C&NBC several times since last Wednesday (17th January) but with no solution to our problem. We wonder if anyone closer to home can help?"
