Co-option of a Parish Councillor

Are you interested in giving something back to the community? There is a co-option vacancy for one Councillor for the Parish of Audlem.

This is an exciting time for the Parish Council who now own Turnpike Field. In addition, the Playing Field complex is due to be transferred to the Parish Council in the near future. These are just two of the things that the Parish Council is currently involved in. Others include commenting on planning applications and liaising with Cheshire East Council issues such as highways and road safety. Please email your application to parishcouncil@audlempc.co.uk by Monday 31st August 2020.

Vacancies for Two Councillors

Due to the resignation of Geoff Seddon and David Higham there are TWO vacancies in the office of Parish Councillor for the Parish of Audlem.

An election to fill the vacancies will be held if ten electors for the said Electoral area give notice to the Returning Officer requesting such an election within 14 days (excluding Saturdays Sundays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday or a Bank Holiday) of the date of this notice.

Regulation 6 of The Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 currently defers an election (if called) until Thursday, 6th May 2021. It should be noted however, that the Government has indicated that the situation will be kept under review and, if safe to do so, further legislation will be laid that will permit an election sooner than this date.

The address of the Returning Officer is:

The Returning Officer
Cheshire East Council
Westfields
Middlewich Road
Sandbach
CW11 1HZ

If no such notice is given the Parish Council will fill the vacancies by co-option.
