The Parish Council meeting last evening could be divided into two parts – Planning applications and other items and so we at AudlemOnline thought it appropriate to summarise the essence of the meeting in two separate articles, namely the key Planning Applications and the general business.

Dr. Rachel Giles – From Cheshire Wildlife Trust – Planning and Ecology Manager.

Rachel described how the Wildlife Trust could help in responding to Planning Applications and with Neighbourhood Plans by mapping and identifying habitats of "distinctiveness" i.e potentially containing wildlife to be protected. They were able to provide soil analysis and with local wildlife knowledge.

Neighourhood Plan

Cheshire East are expected to "make" or adopt the Plan at their meeting of the 12th April, and a week later the Planning Officers will take it into account when making planning decisions about Audlem.
Chairman, Heather Jones thanked everyone involved for the hard work in creating the plan. The total cost in creating the plan was £5783 of which £5000 had been received in grants.

Finance

Grants were approved for ADAS to pay for seasonal bedding in 2016/17 of £1000 and T.A.V.A. for £500. Councillor G. Seddon proposed no action be taken on a request for support of £404 from Audlem Football Club until more evidence was received of their own fund raising. Councillor Higham indicated that the Youth Club was funded in the short term, but may seek funding from the Parish Council in the future.

Highways

Councillor Hill reported that he and Councillor Consterdine had been on site at the Whitchurch Road bridge and good progress was being made as follows:

  • The bridge is now repaired and about to be resurfaced
  • The pavements and drains have been cleared
  • The road will be resurfaced from Lightwood Green Chapel to Copthorne Drive.
  • a new 30mph speed limit will be introduced beyond the Bridge.
  • The bridge will be fitted with red lights powered by solar panels enabling better visibility of the parapets.
  • Two Speed Indicator Devices will be installed on the approach to the bridge.
