At a meeting convened by Ward Councilor Rachel Bailey, it became clear that the current Parish Council is no longer quorate and as such no actions can be taken, for example payments for services and setting the Precept for the next financial year.
Present at the meeting also included:-
Brian Reed – Democratic Services Dept for Cheshire East & Deputy returning Officer
Lee Jakeman – Interim Parish Clerk
and approximately 45 local parishioners
The current situation can only be resolved by intervention by Cheshire East or an election. To facilitate the election there must be at least 10requests from Audlem Parishioners to Cheshire East requesting an election.
It is important that as many parishioners as possible put in such a request. The easiest way to do this is to send an email to electionteam.admin@cheshireeast.gov.uk. (see suggested content)
Once received, Cheshire East will formally initiate the process for electing a new set of councilors..
There are 9 vacant posts for Audlem Parish Councilors. If more than 9 candidates come forward, there has to be a ballot by Audlem Parishioners. If 9 or fewer names come forward, they would all automatically be elected.
