On the 19th January we asked for someone to step into the breach and write a review of the latest Audlem pantomime because the regular reviewer, "Firstnighter" was unavailable. We were very fortunate to find a stand-in and here is the review they have sent in:

"It was beginning to look a lot like panto time in Audlem this week, and Wednesday evening played host to the opening night of the 5A's production of the magical Peter Pan. With the scene set, drinks flowing and village hall full of anticipation, it was time for the magic to begin............

"The pantomime opened in fabulous form with wonderful scenery and an array of flamboyant dancers. We were then whisked off in a puff of fairy dust to the Darling's bedroom, where fairy-tale loving Wendy, Michael and John Darling, played by Eve Kirby, Jack Hancock and David Davenport, were paid a visit by none other than Peter Pan (Helen Katterloher) and his side-kick fairy Tinkerbell (Sophie McKinnon). In a flurry, of dancing fairies and magic bubbles, and a chorus of 'When you wish upon a star' we found ourselves transported from a cold, wet evening in Audlem, to the third star on the left, the magical Never-Never Land.

"Then we are greeted by a chorus of singing and dancing little Indians in fabulous costumes, and, once again, fantastic scenery. In true pantomime villain style, Captain Hook played by Paul Cliffe and his motley crew of pirates, kidnap Tiger-Lily (Charlotte Smith) from her father Big Chief Little Chef (James Whitehurst) and his wife Watha (Lesley Davenport), and it is up to the infamous Peter Pan and his gang of lost boys, to save the beautiful Tiger-Lily.

"This pantomime did not fail to get both old and young jiving away in their seats, with sing and dance alongs, wet and wild pirate water guns and plenty of magical fairy dust. With songs and laughter along the way it is fun-filled evening for all to enjoy. One important thing to remember, is 'when you believe, anything can happen.'.

"Well done to all the crew and cast of Peter Pan and a special congratulations to the writer Colin Cliffe. We all look forward to see what's in store for next year!"
