I have seen a large Otter eating an Eel on the canal bank near Moss Hall Farm Bridge. There was no mistaking this animal for anything else due to its size.
I walk back and to from Overwater Marina quite often and have found several headless fish and eels along the towpath.
As a point of interest, and as scientist, I would say that because the canal is so well stocked with fish, this animal has found it much better than the more sparsely stocked River Weaver.
