It's the first of four very busy weekends this month in the village with

Audlem District Amenities Society holding the 6th Annual Open Gardens & Scarecrow Trail Weekend today and tomorrow, 8th & 9th July.

Twelve beautiful gardens will be open to view – from large to small – in Audlem, Cox Bank and Hankelow. The entry price is £2.50 and the trail starts at the Public Hall at 1.00 pm each day where full lists and maps of the gardens will be issued to you.

As well as the Open Gardens and Scarecrow weekend, Audlem District Amenities Society (ADAS) will also be holding a marvellous Silent Auction at Audlem Public Hall on Saturday 8th and 9th of July in aid of Audlem village funds. There will be over 80 fabulous lots on offer including a Jensen Button F1 Podium cap – signed!; Bentley Motors goods; games of golf; a holiday cottage let; 3 course meals and many, many more lots. There's a long list displayed in the ADAS noticeboard in the village centre.

All of the lots (or detailed descriptions) will be on display in the Public Hall and bidding will take place between 1.00pm and 6.00pm. You bid and it is written down. At 6pm on Sunday 9th the highest bid wins.

It's a great way to get involved in an auction, be involved in fund-raising for village amenities and, very possibly, getting a valuable item for your money.

Next weekend it is the Proms on the Park (15th July) with the Fun-ky weekend and the Audlem Festival of Transport to look forward to on the following two weekends.
