A TV viewer from Shavington has taken the trouble to write to Audlem Online to say: "Last night's BBC broadcast made Audlem look like the dullest place in Cheshire with residents that seemed to care more about house prices than they did about community spirit. After that showing I think you might have difficulty selling your precious homes."

He signs himself Mr Ebagum. Worryingly, that is 'Mugabe' spelt backwards (!) and the world knows only too well the Zimbabwean president's interest in property!

And just in case Mr Ebagum is reading this, it's worth noting that Audlem is the current national Village of the Year for 'Building Community Life' and 'the price of property' was chosen as the agenda by the BBC, not the local residents. It was a similar issue when Audlem was making its presentations for 'Village of the Year'. It just seems to go with being a 'Cheshire' village.

Since this story was posted at 1.20pm, Mr Ebagum has been back on to say:

"Do I get the impression a nerve might have been caught after reading your reply? It seems that your village is incapable of taking any criticism but then again how to do you improve on perfection!"
