For the first time, this season Audlem Saints didn't score in this tight match with Cougars. Good solid defending on Saints' part though ensured that the 12 match unbeaten run was maintained. The 0-0 draw was a fair result as both teams battled hard in very difficult conditions. The strong wind and cold air provided a stiff test for both players and spectators.
The most significant action of the match was a super snap shot from an Audlem midfielder which crashed against the underside of the bar. The ball dropped downwards and may or may not have crossed the line but it was an impossible decision for the referee to make and so the score remained 0-0.
The season as it now stands for Audlem is played 12, won 10, drawn 2. Well done indeed boys...keep it up!!

(And for those many generations too young to remember 1966, it was a Russian linesman who gave England the vital goal in the World Cup final as a ball crashed down off the crossbar, just like the Saints' effort today. It's still debated to this day if the ball crossed the line in 1966.)
