The renovated toilets in Audlem Main Car Park were ceremoniously unveiled yesterday.

This represents the first significant transfer of a resource from Cheshire East to a Council, and there to celebrate were:-

Parish Council representatives Kate Down, Jean White, Frances Mary Christie and Bill Consterdine

From Cheshire East Rachel Bailey, Chris Allman and Caroline Griffies

... as well as Geoff Farr who has a prominent role in the history of the building.

Two notable absentees were Mike Hill – he and Bill Consterdine were the leading drivers of the project, and Des Guerin whose company, CMS, did the bulk of the construction work on the renovations.

The somewhat chilly conditions kept the speechmaking to a minimum, but Bill gave a brief history of the project and, as well as the original and current builders, thanked the various main contributors – Cheshire East, Peter Hollinshead for the architectural details, Jo Halden for the artwork on the decorative panels and Martyn Measures (Hibberts) for seeing through the legal ramifications at no cost to the Parish.

A plaque detailing a brief history of these "well known" toilets was unveiled by Kate Down, and she and Bill then cut the ribbons of toilet paper and the toilets were formally declared open for use.
