On the 24th March, the North West Ambulance Service's NHS 111 Service is to have its first inspection from the Care Quality Commission (CQC) and wants to hear from patients in the region about their experiences using the service.

Was the advice you were given helpful? Did you feel reassured by the service? Did 111 organise the help that you needed? Any comments or feedback at all will be helpful in understanding how well the service is operating and what areas could be improved.

As well as using patient feedback the CQC will visit NWAS NHS 111 operating centres and meet with the managers, staff and clinicians who helped respond to over 770,000 calls received in the last year.

During the visit, the CQC will be assessing the quality and safety of the service by asking five important questions, these are:

  • Are they safe?
  • Are they effective?
  • Are they caring?
  • Are they responsive?
  • Are they well-led?   Asking these questions enable the CQC to gain a full picture of the NWAS NHS 111 service and therefore make a judgement as to how well they are performing. This judgement falls in line with all of the other work the CQC do towards NHS organisations.   Any patients, who would like to share their experiences with the inspectors, can do so via: http://www.cqc.org.uk/share-your-experience-finder
