Tell us your experiences, says the local ambulance service.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust wants to know your views! As the largest ambulance trust in the country, NWAS deals with over 1 million 999 calls every year and prides itself on the service it provides to communities across the region. But now, it wants to get even better!

That is why the trust is proactively seeking patients' experiences of their time with the ambulance service. Over the past few months, the Trust has been surveying patients in a number of A&E departments throughout the region to ask their opinions on their ambulance journey into hospital. It is now expanding this survey and will be making it available on its website.

Director of Performance & Patient Experience, Sarah Byrom comments: "Calling for an ambulance is often a stressful and emotional time and understanding more about the experiences people have during these times is vital for the Trust to truly shape the services we offer, find ways of improving and also identify where we are doing well.

"We hope that with this new online survey, people who have used our services in the past can log on and tell us about it. We welcome all comments and opinions."

The survey's early findings have been invaluable in establishing a robust patient experience programme for the coming financial year and have so far revealed that:

  • Over 90 percent of patients and their relatives gave the highest possible rating to care they received from the ambulance service
Sarah adds: 'Feedback works both ways and we will ensure that the findings of the survey and any resulting actions are published so patients can see for themselves how they have influenced change and improvements.'

The survey can be accessed via the North West Ambulance Service's website www.nwas.nhs.uk – click on the link below the photo.

Audlem Online says: As regular readers will know, NWAS has featured many times in reports on this website, often very critical reports. However, as we reported on Tuesday, the service has been making changes leading to improved response times. We are therefore publishing this request by NWAS for feedback from users of the ambulance service.
