The local NSPCC branch committee will be setting up their stall under the Buttermarket next Saturday (10th May) from 10 am to around 12 noon. On offer will be good quality bric-a-brac and second-hand books etc. You will also be able to buy coffee and cakes at The Lord Combermere across the road, courtesy of landlord Steve Nash. This event is the latest in the Audlem NSPCC committee's fund-raising efforts which over the last year have raised thousands of pounds for this worthwhile charity. Major contributions have come from the house to house collection which takes place every year in early to mid September, coffee mornings and their most recent fund-raising event was a jazz night held in the Public Hall on March 11th as reported on Audlem Online. At this most enjoyable evening young players from the East Midlands Jazz Orchestra entertained a large crowd. The excellent supper was provided by local chef Paul Ratcliffe, and the profit from the evening amounted to a magnificent £1,090. Thanks to all who contributed in any way. Please do continue to support the local fundraisers by calling in at their stall at the Buttermarket next Saturday morning. There is bound to be something worth buying there.
