When a young child slipped while travelling down the Shropshire Union canal with her parents and fell into the water, along with her bicycle, her parents must have been distraught as their daughter, safely rescued from the canal, was of course soaking wet. And to make matters worse, a thunderstorm was raging at the time. Luckily, they were passing through Audlem and it was the Shroppie Fly pub that sprung to the rescue
The young girl was taken indoors by Kate, the licensee, towelled and given a set of replacement clothes. Her parents were so grateful they contacted Audlem Online with the story as soon as they arrived home and have also sent a 'Thank You' card to Kate.
