North West in Bloom award

Well would you believe it! In July we entertained the judges of North West in Bloom as they visited the district. This is part of the Nationwide Britain in Bloom event that takes place each year.

The area covered is the whole of Lancashire and Cheshire stretching from Millom on the edge of the southern Lake District and then down as far south as Audlem and Buerton. Our category is that of a large village.

So, the massive numbers of such places is mind boggling. But, we have been given an award! We have been invited to go to Southport in late October to be presented with this.

And this is in the light of my telling the judges that what we do is for us the residents and for our visitors – not for the day of Judging. So well done to all the businesses in keeping their baskets etc in such good condition – and to Gavin, our hard working lengthsman, in ensuring a tidy place each and every day.
